A little over a year ago, I was faced with the daunting prospect of selling my home in Bonner Springs, along with helping my parents sell their home in Iowa, so that we could buy a house in the Basehor/Bonner Springs area. The odds of pulling that off seemed astronomical to me. Most said it wouldn't happen...they didn't know Janet!
Janet Shumway stepped up to this impossible realtor's challenge at a time when not much was moving on the housing market. Janet was friendly, understanding of my needs and wants, and set out from day one to make things happen. She helped me to understand reasonable expectations as the seller of a small, fixer-upper and as the buyer of a new home for aging parents and myself.
From initial pricing and staging advice to final inspections, Janet was like the proverbial dog with a bone. She not only worked to represent me in a fair deal, but often helped the realtors buying/selling on the other end of things with details their realtors were carless or sloppy about. Janet contacted financial institutions and worked to arrange timely financing and closing deals when deals on the sales of both homes were in jeopardy, due to buyer errors. She worked with my parents' realtor long distance to organize and finalize their sale when their realtor encountered problems, clear up to the day the moving van was headed their way.
Janet is a great problem solver. She is not afraid to approach all parties concerned for open and frank discussions regarding expectations and possibilities. Despite numerous obstacles placed in our path, we managed to sell both homes, closing the same week, and purchased a beautiful home that was just what we needed for everyone to have their own space.
Thanks Janet!
Sincerely,
Kandy Johnson

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter to express my appreciation for the service we received from your agent Janet Shumway.
Janet started working with us in the winter of 2009, we had our house on the market and every time we thought it was going to sell we would start looking for a home in the Tonganoxie area. We lived 2 hours away from Tonganoxie so when we would come up to look, we would have several homes to look at. Janet is a very organized person and she would have them lined out in order and have all the paper work ready. It turns out we were not able to sell our home until Sept of 2010. All the time in between Janet would contact me to see how things were going.
When our house did finally sell, I called Janet to start the house hunting again and as before she was very organized and very helpful. Our journey to find a home turned out to be a nightmare, not because of Janet, she remained calm and professional and even had sympathy when every bid we would make did not go through.
We as clients made several mistakes in the process of looking for a home and at times were very difficult, and all the while Janet stayed professional and friendly. We were able to find a home and as of this date have not closed on it either, and not for any reason other than issues with the bank that are underway. Janet has been very honest and trustworthy and remains as a foundation to our home buying process.
The main reason for this letter is to acknowledge a person who has went above and beyond the call of duty to do her job. I fell I have not only met a very professional agent, but a friend. As bad as things are in this world today, I feel it is very important to acknowledge some one for a job well done, and this is just how I feel about Janet. I would refer her to anyone who may be in the market to buy or sell, she is a wonderful person and most important to me, honest.
Sincerely,
Jessie Hamel
(Note: Jessie's home did close a couple weeks later and she is very happy with it, Janet Shumway)
